Profile of Geoscientist

Our subsurface evaluation team comprises of seasoned professionals to recent graduates, and they undertake projects covering the full hydrocarbon resource life cycle from exploration to development.
We are seeking for a Geoscientist who will complement our team of Seismologists, Production geologists, Petrophysicists, and Reservoir Engineers to carry out hands-on technical work, field development studies, prospect valuation support tender preparation and develop into taking project responsibility.
The candidate should be a results-oriented professional geologist with wide E&P technical and commercial experience in conventional oil and gas exploration, appraisal and development studies, asset management, secondary recovery mechanisms and projects covering offshore/onshore West Africa.

Responsibilities

This role encompasses many functions including:

• Working in the Geoscience Team, undertaking technical geoscience project work including stand-alone seismic interpretation projects, and integrated reservoir field as well as basin scale projects.

• Undertake and provide support to seismic interpretation and reservoir modeling projects.

• Undertake depth conversion using seismic velocities and well velocities in complex structures, work in collaboration with Petrophysicists.

• Undertake static modelling projects.

Qualification
Minimum requirement is a bachelor’s degree in Geoscience.

• A geoscience related degree, MSc or PhD level will be an added advantage.

• 5 to 15 years first-hand experience .

• The successful candidate will have demonstrated skills through first-hand projects delivery experience to include:

Requirement:

• IFDC uses various interpretation software like Petrel and Kingdom Suites. Thus, the candidate should be highly proficient in use of Petrel software.

• Experience or affinity with basin and reservoir modelling with a strong appreciation/knowledge of geological interpretations.

• Experience or affinity with seismic interpretation, time-to-depth conversion, velocity analysis, static modelling integrated field studies, sequence stratigraphic seismic and well log interpretations, asset evaluations and/or equity/unitisation.

• Seismic interpretation, structural analysis, reservoir characterization, 3D Geomodelling, sequence and biostratigraphy, play-based exploration, and prospect generation and Well and Reservoir Management.

• Experience in well planning and operations geology as well as risk and uncertainty analysis will be a plus.

• The capability to work independently and be an excellent team player.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills – comfortable presenting formally and informally to groups of people.

• A confident, self-motivated and responsive individual with sound judgement and pragmatic in approach.

• The ability and experience to succeed in a multi-cultural working environment.

• Strive to deliver high quality projects to clients in a professional and timely manner. Ability to work under pressure and deliver high quality project in a timely manner is a must-have requirement.

• Keep abreast of international standards and practices, including new and emerging technologies.

Duration: One-year contract with the intention of a permanent contract afterwards.
